FIRST STREAMING - VIDEO CAMERA PERFORMANCE
[LIVE] PERSONA is an interdisciplinary performance art project situated at the intersection of dance, technology, and experimental media. The work explores digital embodiment and performative identity in the context of real-time livestreaming. The project culminated in a camera-based, live-streamed performance titled The End of the Beginning, presented via Twitch. In this work, the camera functions not merely as a recording device, but as the artist’s stage; the stream becomes a site of presence and transformation.
Developed during a 6-month artistic research scholarship, the project features Ave Vanilla — a screen-based live persona and enfant terrible. [LIVE] PERSONA has reached over 17,600 viewers in countries including Germany, Poland, Japan, India, Brazil, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Russia, and the USA.
The work remains open to reinterpretation as a hybrid performance format adaptable to exhibition, video installation, live transmission or site-specific settings.
WHY [LIVE] AVE VANILLA NOW?
We live in a time where streaming platforms and constant surveillance — from CCTV to reality shows — reshape our sense of visibility. The body is no longer only present on stage or in the studio; it is continuously observed, archived, and commented on in everyday life.
[LIVE] Ave Vanilla questions the boundaries of streaming as an artistic medium. Can a performance that repeats, transforms, and embraces error become a counterpoint to voyeuristic formats of continuous monitoring? Can livestreaming open a space for intimacy, vulnerability, and transformation rather than mere spectacle?
